 Director of Education

Dr. Sidney L Poe earned the BS in Biological Sciences Education followed by MS in Zoology at Northwestern State University and the Ph.D. at University of MO. 

Dr. Poe served as Professor at the University of Florida then as Professor and Head of Department at Virginia Tech University. He began a campus ministry at VA Tech and pastored churches both in Virginia and Mississippi. Dr. Poe authored many scientific research papers, book chapters, and trained students at both the MS and PhD levels.

Later, he served as Dean of Students and Dean of Christian Education at Jackson College of Ministries in Jackson, Mississippi. He also taught a distance learning course in Biological Sciences for Gateway College of Evangelism in Florissant, MO.

​He became an ordained minister in the Mississippi District of the UPCI in 1987 and there he served as Secretary and Director of Sunday School. He has pastored a home mission church in Blacksburg, VA and the United Pentecostal Church of Richland, MS. 

Administratively, he served the Association of Christian Teachers and Schools, Division of Education (DOE) as Assistant Executive Director and wrote the guidelines and standards for Teacher Certification and School Accreditation for K-12 schools.

Dr. Sidney Poe is the Founder of Global Training Interaction, a nonprofit organization specializing in “training the trainers”. He has over 40 years of educational and leadership training in higher education and has taught seminars in churches and conventions. He facilitates the training of leaders, teachers, and pastors in religious missions and institutions in many countries throughout the world, teaching courses in several institutions of higher learning as well as ministering in local churches.

Dr. Poe is a professor of Biblical Studies. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Apostolic Bible Institute (ABI) in St. Paul, Minnesota, teaching Educational Psychology, Christian Ethics, and Major Prophets. He also teaches a course titled Honoring God’s Word at the Apostolic Leadership Institute (ALI) in Enfield, Connecticut.

He is a Hospital and Hospice Chaplain, ministering to patients and families in times of sickness and loss.  He is a Chaplain Trainer with the Occupational Chaplains Association.  He serves as the Director of Education with the United Pentecostal Church International Office of Education and Endorsements and the Occupational Chaplains Association.

He is a Care Giver/Counselor with Points of Refuge, a care ministry for the ministers of the United Pentecostal Church.

He is a writer, authoring the UPCI commentary “The Gospel according to Mark” and numerous chapters in books and Sunday school lessons for Word Aflame Publishing/Pentecostal Publishing House. He is a curriculum writer and instructor for licenses at all levels of ministerial development. Dr. Poe serves the United Pentecostal Church Global Missions Division as a representative in curriculum development for the Global Association of Theological Studies and teaching in various capacities in Bible schools and districts. 

Dr. Poe and his wife, Barbara, are members of the Pentecostals of Alexandria and serve under Pastor Anthony Mangun
